Flypaper thoughts in transit edition

  • Everybody in the world but me has eyelash extensions
  • Some look pretty, but a bit long
  • Some look like bath mats attached to eyelids
  • If you ever wonder if simple is not best
  • Sit and people watch in an airport
  • There’s your answer
  • When I am boss of the world
  • No in-transit food stop
  • Will be allowed to charge 2000% more for a bottle of water than it costs at the Superstore
  • I am not talking about the Romaine spine wraps
  • Oh shoot
  • I don’t like air travel
  • And I bet you are picking up on that
  • The good part
  • However
  • Is arrivals
  • Families with flowers
  • Signs that say welcome
  • Mothers getting young sons home for the weekend
  • Just long enough for them to remember that these really are the best people in the world
  • Not replaced by book clubs
  • Grandchildren shy to meet grandparents
  • Who have borrowed strollers from the neighbours for this visit
  • Goofy guys being hugged and held for a real long time
  • By girls probably too good for them
  • And the guys know it too
  • But maybe the girls know something we don’t
  • Yes sometimes the getting there
  • Is worth all the trouble

I love airports for all the reasons you cite. The part about the arrivals makes me think of the movie "Love, Actually." Safe travels!

I loath travel, makes me a home body. I have a friend who got eyelash extensions and she NEVER wears makeup and she looked so fabulous I went to get extensions too. My eyes watered so much in the prep that it was literally a total wash out. Alas no fluttering lashes for me.

Those lash extensions are "intriguing", aren't they? No, I don't have any.

I take an empty water bottle to the airport in my carry-on bag. To get filled for free at the water fountain or in the airplane.

For the last 5 years, I've been on a medication for Glaucoma that makes my eyelashes grow. At first, I thought it was cool. Then I read something about the medication also makes you look hollow eyed. So, I now I think I have hollow eyed eyes with long lashes--think owl like. But, I have my sight, and with mascara, I look pretty damn good. Also, sitting at airports and railway stations (like I used to in Montreal), always make me teary eyed. I love it.

Hi, Lovely dress. Just add a cami under, or a T. Safe travel! Cathie!

Best airport arrival scene for me was seeing one of my sons when he returned from a military tour in Afghanistan. Pure joy and relief.
