First of all thank you thank you.
I have been really touched by the comments posted here on the retirement of this blog and by the private messages I have also received.
I think both you and I will miss Flypaper thoughts the most.
For that reason I have decided that my new reader newsletter, you can sign up here at babsemodi.com will also, and always, include a Flypaper thoughts section.
This will make me happy. Flypaper thoughts is my real voice.
The reader newsletter will also contain info on my writing projects that right now include one non-fiction book How to be an Older Woman (obviously mostly humorous) which I hope to have ready by early winter, and a few shorter novellas to be released as part of anthologies while I work on larger projects.
I also plan on making free "prequels" available through the website.
On the fiction side here are three series I have in the works:
- Valerie Rankin and the Seaside Sewists. Set in Gasper's Cove Nova Scotia based around a small sewing school.
- A yet untitled series on a traveling bridal dressmaker who tours the southern US in an RV (now where do I come up with an idea like that?)
- Also untitled series on an irresponsible grandmother who solves crimes with the help of her responsible grandchildren (the research team is heavily involved in the developmental stages of this one)

Do you need any material for your old lady stuff??? I can take notes from my day and send them off to you. I will begin today with stepping on my computer glasses and then trying to take a 3 hour class on zoom that was not recorded to view later:)! Even if I had glasses that worked, I certainly would never remember more than 15 minutes of this morning's material. Oh well, I think it was fun....but then again, I don't remember.
I can proof read for you also but I cannot give an unbiased book review since I already know I will absolutely enjoy anything that you publish.
Retiring from your blog is definitely increasing your time writing. I enjoyed your blog and I am definitely going to read your stories -where can I buy them?

Barbara, I just learned that you will be refocusing your writing efforts! I was a librarian for 40 years, now retired for 10, and sewed for even longer - 60 years, and an avid cozy mystery reader, I would love to be selected as one of your Beta readers, or ARC readers. Even if I am not selected I will anxiously wait for the publication of a cozy mystery focusing on sewing! WHOO HOO! I have written over 100 books and articles in the library field (interlibrary loan was my focus) so I have honed my skills in communicating with a specific audience.
I may not have followed your blog for years, but I am slowly getting back into sewing and discovering authors/experts who emerged after 1993 when my career consumed my every waking hour! Loved being a librarian, but I now wonder if I should have "done something" with my love for sewing. But, I am having great fun connecting with my love of sewing again.

Oh, no, say it isn’t so! Phew, there still will be fly paper thoughts. In all seriousness, my husband and I love your flypaper thoughts. I used to read them to him at night and both of thought they were so point on. Eventually, I also discovered your sewing posts and have been steadily reading through them. Thank you for having shared your knowledge and passion, as well as observations on life with us. Looking forward to sharing in your new adventures. Wishing you much joy with your new writing :j
