- Because we have never been there
- So far I default to French with a Spanish accent
- Pretty sure that's not going to work
- Particularly since my French is highly incomplete
- Going to need a better system than that
- Going to make .20 versions of some of the patterns I reviewed too
- My head is exploding
- Getting no sense out of me for a while I can tell you
- Daisy's back is much better
- The acupuncture actually has really worked
- Pretty much every dollar spent on a spring in her step is worth it to me
- Her ear is flopped over the a and s on the keyboard
- Got to choose my words carefully
- Hardly do that when I talk

- Going to be babysitting my daughter's 900 pound retriever this fall
- For three weeks
- Sort of like having Secretariat in the kitchen
- Daisy and the spouse might relocate to the rv
- Considering pop-up shop sewing classes
- Every now and then saying I am here

- Would do it for the conversation
- Why do I think baby squirrels are adorable?
- But their mouse cousins not so?
- I have a binder for my cover hem
- Generic as my machine doesn't have one
- Supposed to tape it on somehow
- Putting this off
- Will cut into my sewing time
- But educational experiences are worth it
- I always say that after every disaster
- What do you think of swim shorts?
- Cutting up old bras for the bathing suit cups
- The ones in the store remind me of coffee filters
- Is that the look I want?
- Doing another Youtube tonight on hand sewing
- Got to get caught up
- Ran across my old school yearbooks
- Tracking down one of my daughter's she wanted
- In mine I looked at all the pictures of the cool girls
- Which did not include me
- I was the one not with the flip hairdo and the wing eyeliner
- Where are they now?
- Are they still mean?
- Or has life sorted that out?
- I was the one with the clothing inventions
- Hopefully now teenage "makers" feel cool
- I want to tell them
- Don't peak too early
- Imagine if your best years were that old?
- And your best moments were those that started under the dryer hood?
- My nerdiest friend is now a famous veterinary researcher
- OK it's in epilepsy in chickens
- But how many other people can say they are an expert in that?
- I made all my own clothes from age 12
- What was my mother thinking?
- Probably that I was out of her hair
- So
- This means I have been doing what I love since I was 12
- How many people can say that?

Love. Your. Posts. I just decided to be a seamstress bc that's what I like. Thank you! Also: don't forget sewing the Jalie Nico for the men in your life (it would be marvellous for your youngest son I thought) just saying this bc to me, a good raglan shirt is 1. a key element to a basic wardrobe and 2. a very good example of a flattering men's piece. (I'm making 2 for father's day: 1 for OH, 1 for my almost 6 yr old son, they'll match 😍😆) not implying that your men need flattering pieces. I just think a good raglan accentuates the masculine features with the shoulder lines.
I can say I have been sewing since 12! Not properly. LOL I too am now thinking I should have gotten the Bobbie. I think because now I have more time. I wanted it, but then I would have felt rushed and I don't like that. :( Now I regret not getting it when I could have for the Promo. Oh well.
Love your blog, Barbara. Want to live near you so we can play,sew,experiment and yak together. All I need to do is move away from California. Sigh. Maybe you should move here? LOL. Truly though, I do enjoy your down-to-earth, real and relatable posts. Thank you!

Just love your blog. Always a laugh out loud moment and a yes that is so true! Please, please keep it up. Love your new book. Though I have been sewing since 5th or 6th grade (1960s) have learned some new tricks. Because of the earlier blog about Jalies ordered 5 or 6 off the Jalie website as can't buy them locally(US). Thank you, also for including your trips and Daisy. Two subjects that always are a wonderful addition to sewing blogs, wait 3, are pets, vacations, and children. Jean

My neighbor would disagree about the baby squirrels. Two fell down her chimney and wreaked havoc in her living room shredding her curtains and putting their soot-covered tracks all over her furniture and carpet. She finally had to open all the windows and leave the house in order to get them out! She calls them tree rats now.
One of the cool/popular girls in my high school became a vet. and is now in jail for selling drugs to humans. She made fun of one of my made-by-me outfits in the 8th grade. Hmm....

As always, your Flypaper Thoughts make me actually laugh/snort out loud. The 900 lb retriever/Secretariate comment did it this time! Delighted the acupuncture helped Daisy... I have had it for one of my terriers and it helped as well. Thanks again for all your posts.
Do Canadian libraries have access to Pronunciator? Or, can you get an account at a U.S. library that offers it? Pronunciator is an online language learning program, but the reason it stands above the rest is that for major languages, like Spanish and French, there are multiple live language conversation classes with a native speaker. The classes are divided by skill level and limited to five participants. They take place through Go To Meeting. It's all free to the user, courtesy of the public library.

Count me in the "sewing since age 12" club. My next door neighbor was a high school home ec teacher and got me started with by-the-book sewing. The lady across the street was a seasoned home sewer and taught me the shortcuts. Did my early sewing on Mom's 224 and then was given an old green SewHandy (which someone decided they needed more than I while I was at university...).
Nova Scotia is so far away from Oregon! I keep wanting to go to the Boxwood Festival but even flying it takes two days!

Barb, you're one of the bright spots in my days, and your flypaper thoughts are the brightest. I don't know why but I'm almost always teary by the time I get to the bottom. I love hearing about Daisy and your husband and the grandkids and your niece and everyone, AND I think they're all really lucky to have you in their lives. And even though we're probably pretty close in age I want to be adopted.

If you decide to have a pop-up shop sewing class on a weekend I would love to come.... especially if it’s for pants!
Your book arrived last week, love it! And I also love the Jalie swim shorts. I made them just in time for winter so haven't worn them for swimming yet (southern hemisphere) but they seem excellent in the mirror and were a fun sew. Cute but modest.
