Good news story

If you have been reading me for a while you know that my dear step-daughter has had a complicated pregnancy, following in fact a long tough road to get there.

Well, yesterday morning she delivered a perfect baby boy, a month early but absolutely healthy and wonderful.

Her water broke after dessert at my house on Sunday night and she went right into the hospital. The thing was her husband was away, nearly all the way across the country and had to get home as soon as he could.

Fortunately Westjet got him right on a flight and even held a connection 30 minutes for him, making up the time in the air.

During the flight of course, when you can't use your cell phone, our son-in-law had no idea what was going on at home.

Cut to our girl in the labour room.

Her cell phone rang and when she answered a very polite male voice asked her "You don't know who I am but I am the pilot on your husband's plane. We just wanted to know how you are doing."

Not sure what she said but they made it, just in time.

Thank you Westjet.

Wonderful, wonderful news! I suggest the name "Samuel" for this miracle baby -- remember how Hannah prayed and prayed for God to send her a baby boy? (Thought about naming my own DD "Rejoice Greatly" but took pity on her and gave her a more normal name.) Best wishes to all the family; and a special "my hat's off to you" to the Westjet pilot.

Lovely story. I too cried. The pilot deserves a lot of credit, and the airline too.

What a great story. So good to know that there are still people who will go the extra distance to help a stranger and also great to know that your daughter has delivered a healthy little one. Normally just a lurker but came out of lurkdom after reading your great story.

Barb, this your cousin Nancy Jean from Vancouver. I just have to tell you how much I enjoy your blog, but today I cried. If I have a choice I always fly Westjet because they do care about the customer and always go out of their way to meet their demands. Congratulations on the new baby.
