- The long version of flypaper thoughts will continue
- Just decided I needed a way to record things on the fly before I lost them
- No dups
- As if these thoughts are significant
- By mistake bought 50/50 sheets on sale
- Four clammy nights and switched to cotton
- What a difference
- Note to self
- Big reason I sew is to avoid polyester
- Next to impossible in the stores
- Why would anyone line a silk dress with poly?
- They do this
- Husband bought a red scooter to go to the store
- Says I can drive it
- If I do you get pictures
- Don't hold your breath
- Looked at the bright orange and bright pink lace I bought and thought
- What was I thinking?
- Got to start the flower girl dresses soon and get myself under control
- Man at the beach said "hey Nova Scotia, you have on different knee socks every day"
- Lady at the store said "Love your flowered knee socks, you see everything here"
- I think they call it branding
- And I once tried to sew a Chanel jacket
- You are what you are
- Grouper is the best fish
- More snow at home this weekend
- Anyone ever order from Hart Fabrics?
- Look decent
- Fabricmart has gone a little poly on me
- Have had great luck with ebay machines
- More on that later
- Have to spend a few hours altering some Landsend shorts
- Note to self
- I sew because I know where I am wide and where I am not
- Landsend doesn't
- I might look good on a red scooter
- It's my colour
- Just like bright orange and pink
- Now off to mark looking at the beach
- Sorry about that snow at home folks

Yes, I have ordered from Hart's Fabrics and have been pleased with my orders. The descriptions of the fabrics have been accurate and the photos of the fabrics' colors are true on my computer monitor. Some of their fabrics can be found for less on other sites such as Fabric.com.
I have found this site easy to navigate and well-organized.

So glad you are still doing the long version, I don't tweet. There is something too 'pop culture' about it to me. Anyway, I hear you about the poly contamination of decent fabric...what can we do?
I have been interested in ordering from Hart's as they have Japanese cottons, but I haven't made the jump yet. I also sew to avoid polyester, although I am okay with it in a ponte skirt. I wish that there were more voiles and lawns available at FM.
Husband bought a red scooter to go to the store
Says I can drive it
If I do you get pictures
Haha
Be careful
If you do
If you don't, get a picture with it anyway...
You make me smile :)
Barbara, I just found your blog a couple of days ago...I, too, am in Florida for a few more days. I fell off my deck chair reading your post about this time of year and our northern responses to more snow and cold. I had to leave. Now I'm restored (thanks be to God! no shoes nor gloves for the past week!) I will even face having to run yet another election when I return to work next week in Michigan. There will be no time to sew again for a while. Thanks for your tutorials...can't wait to try the flat butt alteration! Nancy JC
Polyester is THE reason why I sew. I returned to sewing after a shopping trip to Bloomies several years back, I saw a pretty DVF wrap dress for $500. 100% polyester. I put it back on the rack and never looked back. And, yes, when I see a silk dress lined with poly I too am disturbed and confounded. If you want natural fibers (that's even including rayon) you have to shell out the big bucks. Can't do that.
I'm sorry for the loss of your friend; how difficult that must have been for you. But I'm glad you're away in a tropical locale... wearing knee socks.
And yes to the long versions of FT (Flypaper Thoughts)!
-A new fan in Cali
-thank you for continuing the fly papaer thoughts
-I've ordered from Hart's -they were very good.
-yes,polyester is yucky.
-I too am sorry the east coast is being buried again.
You should learn how to use the scooter. I used to have a red one, and i loved it dearly. I think your DH would have to fight you for it if you got used to it..

Very happy you are continuing the long version and look forward to hearing more about buying sewing machines on eBay as I was just informed my 23 year old machine has a "bad board" and they are no longer made.
Ditto about the positive experience with Harts.
I'm also sending my condolences regarding you friend.
Ditto loving your blog!
Hi, Barbara, I realize this is way late to comment on this older post but, in my defense, I just found your blog and am loving it! I got here by a circuitous route, think I started with meggiepeg's blog. Anyhoo, I just had to comment when I saw your comment in the Flypaper Thoughts about polyester-lined silk garments! THANK YOU!! I've recently started sewing again after a couple of decades away from it and I look in thrift stores for garments and other fabrics I can use in sewing and I have been astonished to see a lot of high-dollar-label silk dresses lined in poly! Like you, I ask why? That removes the major benefits of wearing silk! I did luck out last week and find a nice silk voile pleated Anne Klein skirt which was also lined in silk, so I got a nice yield of about 3 yards of silk for $2.50 USD! (I saw the exact same silk print on eBay from China for $10/yd.)
I also want to thank you for your sense of humor, I have genuinely laughed out loud (LOL'ed)while reading your blog and am gradually making my way through all your posts! Keep up the excellent work!
I would like to add that I am really impressed with your sewing production, not only do you turn out garments quickly, you do a great job with your sewing!
