Well here we are. Nicely accessorized with beach bum hair, Peta pants-into-shorts, and tank top.
See you can wear Chanel with anything.
Tomorrow, when I have recovered from sewing that hem chain in till late at night, I will post some profound thoughts on this experience.
In the meantime here are some pics taken by a photographer who made me laugh because he has been listening to this all week and is just as glad as I am this particular project is in the out basket.
Note my original open slit sleeves. You can do this yourself if you put your vents in backwards and cut them off in a rage at 11:00 p.m..
It's actually pretty easy.
Please tell me if these sleeves look like what they are which is a huge mistake and a tired attempt at a save.
More tomorrow in the words department.
Let me outta here. Got to do a cotton blouse next.
I love the sleeves!
ReplyDeleteI love the jacket!!
And you look fab.
You will enjoy wearing it and the bad memories will fade in time.
A great save! It looks as if it suits (?) you--fun, quirky, smart. Elle
ReplyDeleteI love the way the lining shows in your sleeve improvement. It's a perfect jacket for NYC (where I live.)
ReplyDeleteI love it - it looks great on you!
ReplyDeleteYay, I love it when sewers persist in the battle and win - this is a win - hopefully like childbirth you will forget the pain and enjoy. COuld you put zebra print covered buttons on the sleeve vents but no they do not look like a mistake at all.
ReplyDeleteDespite what you are currently feeling the jacket is a win, win. Like others I like the sleeve vents showing the fab lining. The binding is also quite special.
ReplyDeleteLove the jacket! The sleeve slits and the lining make it a less "up-tight" and more in keeping with what I perceive to be your style...
ReplyDeleteIt's a good thing you improved the sleeves with those slits--otherwise you'd have to wear the jacket inside-out to show off the lining!
ReplyDeleteGreat looking jackets in spite of the "pain" of making it.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others that the sleeves are a great detail!
ReplyDeleteWith those shades, you'd make a paper bag look great. Totally loving the inner zebra masquerading as edging.
ReplyDeleteLooks like some pretty fabulous lemonade to me...great save!
ReplyDeleteStunning both inside and outside the jacket.
ReplyDeleteIts like childbirth, you forget the pain and move on to the next one.
ReplyDeleteLove the sleeves. It looks so comfy. Now admit it, it is really comfy, isn't it?
Like everyone else I love it. The sleeves are great, they show off the fun lining and are a 'fashion detail'. Sophisticated and fun at the same time - and if as Bunny says its comfy too then that is a definite win win.

ReplyDeleteI'm with everyone else. I think it looks fabulous and I love the black and white lining and trim. Wear it with pride!
ReplyDeleteMEOW MEOW! How flattering and Sexy! Love it! Great job!
ReplyDeleteYour jacket is super. Hopefully you will get over your antagonism toward it and let it pay in your wardrobe.
ReplyDeleteWonderful jacket! LOVE the lining.
ReplyDeletePark Bench patterns put in a sleeve vent like that on purpose, on a jacket that I've made several times over the years.(Am suffering from CRS today, can't remember name of the pattern.) You've accidentally stumbled on a design feature that has precedent, so I'm sorry if you were going to copyright that detail, lol. Jacket looks great from here -- I really like the piping detail on the front edge and at the sleeve hems.
ReplyDeleteGot here too late to make any original comment, but it looks great ! Particularly agree with the one about having to wear it inside out to show off the lining ! Love the piping. You look beautiful !
ReplyDeleteI have to say that I agree with other comments. I like your vents better than the traditional vent. I may actually copy this some day.
