Flypaper a.m.

Here we go again, blogging when I should be cleaning.



  • My DC-then London-almost NYC son is coming home for a few days this week en route.
  • Time to finish those shirts I have been working on for 1.5 years
  • Why did I put those sleeve plackets on backwards in the spring?
  • I wasted an hour of sewing time researching cognitive degeneration on the internet.
  • Where is that really good seam ripper?
  • You know the one with the dog tooth marks on the handle.
  • Who decided to replace the chocolate bar dispenser at work with energy bars?
  • Shouldn't there have been a vote about that?
  • At 4:00 p.m. a girl needs Mr. Hershey.
  • I offended the medical profession this week.
  • Felt bad about that, particularly about those who also sew.
  • My husband says the new baby is coming this week.
  • He went into a trance while doing the dry-wall and predicted.
  • My sewing guild has just changed the Sewing with a Plan Group to a just-finish-something group.
  • We are all happy about that.
  • I want a new sewing machine.
  • I don't care about embroidery, 500 stitches, memory, mirroring or advanced anything. Just give me a nice stitch and a Reliable Buttonhole.
  • That costs less than it would take to convert this house to solar energy.
  • I would have done the shirts earlier if my buttonholes were trustworthy.
  • My current machine is a former top-of-the-line.
  • I am no longer going to my hairdresser of 20 years.
  • I have changed up from someone who says "Oh god what can we do?" to someone who pats my shoulder and says "you have a very nice personality."
  • Why did I wait this long?
  • Dogs can smile.

    You didn't offend ALL the doctor-sewists. I had a laugh at what us an unfortunately common problem in the medical community. I can't tell you how many times I heard, "Treat the patient; not the numbers!" during my own training, PR how many times I've said it to a trainee. As a doctor, there are so many demands on your time and resources, that it is too easy to forget the patient in favor of their disease process. I an glad you had such a good experience with your nursing staff. I think most doctors would agree that patient care would be much improved if there were more, better paid nurses.

    Whew! Cleaning on Sunday not gonna happen here. That's when I read the papers all day. Promised myself when I had children at home. Totally agree about the sewing machine. I've gone through several brands looking for that elusive buttonhole magic. And I'm mainly and on/off person so the more straightforward the better. Have a great day.

    Okay get I get an amen for the line "at 4:00pm a girl needs Mr. Hershey" or Mr. Mars, Mr. Nestle or Mrs. Godiva (only chocolate that good can be made by a woman!)

    I am with ya on not wanting a multi functional will do everything but wash the dishes machine. Just want it to have what I will use and for it to do that very good! Embroidery only for that, a long neck for quilting. A serger for serging. I had a multi functional machine once. Didn't like that as I like to just have them ready to go and not be switching things out and making adjustments etc.

    I think I saw the seam ripper, under the sewing table far left back corner :O)... tee hee

    I agree with you on the perfect sewing machine.
    Give me a beautiful stitch and a reliable buttonhole, needle up/down and just to be exotic, zig-zag.

    ahhh, you have me in stitches! I am pattern shopping & your review of V1264 led me here. I admired your coat from that pattern and I have this idea that the pattern can be made up in a brocade...but would it look like a cheesy tuxedo? Anyway, glad to have found your blog and I'll be sure to visit again.
